It's not a puppy

Ahhh, the ultrasound. To be honest, I wasn't as anxious for it this time around. I was excited because Bart and Lisa would get to see if they were getting a brother or a sister. And I was dreading it because one of the two was going to be grievously and heart-wrenchingly disappointed and I didn't really want to deal with it. You know, because I'm a good mom like that.

Our ultrasound technician was f.a.b.u.l.o.u.s. When we went to Bart's ultrasound, the tech breezed through the whole thing as fast as she could, pointed out that it was a boy and slapped down some pictures that, as I look at them 5 years later, are totally unrecognizable as a baby or any of its adorable bits and pieces. Her attitude was an unmistakable 'I look at babies all day and this is totally not interesting - now will you please leave so I can enjoy a refreshing beverage?' The tech this time was totally enthusiastic, pointed out all the arms, legs, fingers and toes we could possibly want to see, explained everything she was measuring (and why) and even wrote happy little messages from the baby to Bart and Lisa that got printed on some of the pictures. She made it so wonderful and involved the entire family.

On to the good stuff.

Sweet, sweet little face. I'm taking a little poll here because I think the baby totally shares features with Bart and Lisa and looks like our family. And my dad insists that this baby is completely indistinguishable from any other baby on the entire surface of the earth. I have some silhouettes I've done of both children for objective comparison. Feel free to weigh in on either side of the debate.

Here's where baby gets uncooperative. The nice ultrasound lady tried and tried and tried to get a good face shot with the 4D camera. Baby covered its face with its arms and huddled up.

I'm sure none of you care about any of these and scrolled immediately to the bottom to find out. OK OK here you go - the money shot.

Yep. It's a boy. Lisa was devastated. She's starting to come around. And we have like... zero names for boys (and two totally beautiful girl names that someone else will have to use.) Name suggestions are welcome but I'm absolutely not naming a boy anything that ends in 'aden' or using any names that have at any time been used in the Twilight series of not-books.

Congrats! Obviously, your dad is full of beans. Little blue sprinkle has the same nose mouth structure as both Bart and Lisa. No name suggestions yet...but so happy for you!

Woot! Yes... totally the nose/mouth part of the face. Undeniable. Now you can rest easy that this kid is yours. :o) And my name suggestion is Otis. That away he and Milo can be besties! LOL!

Dear Lisa,
There is something completely wonderful about being the only girl. YOU are the only princess in the family and one of these days (several years down the road)... you can help your dear brothers pick their wives. (Because sisters DO have a say!) And sometimes... picking your own sisters is the best thing ever!

Um, as soon as I saw the picture I thought he looked like your other kids, who I don't even SEE THAT OFTEN. It's in the mouth/nose/chin. So then I was kind of surprised that your dad didn't see it too.

I wish our tech had gotten a good profile shot of my baby so I could start speculating . . .

Those silhouettes totally do look like your kids. that, is amazing.

Since you don't want twilight names, here are a few suggestions:

Peeta, Gale, Plutarch, Haymitch, Cinna, Rooba, Gale, Cato, Finnick, Brutus, Beetee, Ceasar, Pollox, Cresida, Boggs, Leeg, Castor, Homes, Mitchell, Jackson,

So I was going to ask you... are you still seeing Dr. G? Because my ultrasound experience with Milo was most excellent too with the new gal they had at their office. The first two babies were such bummer ultrasounds but I loved Milo's. Yeah... a bedside manner sure doesn't come to everyone. LOL!

Jessica - no I switched to a guy in AF because Dr G, as much as I liked him, was just too far away. I'm glad they got a new girl because his old one was awful. Wasn't it his daughter?

Ah, it's a boy!! Cuuute. He totally looks like your others. What girl names were you going to use and what on earth do you have against naming him Cullen?

Ouch, covering my poor unimaginatively named Aidan's ears right now ;) I do know what you mean though, when I picked his name it was because I'd always loved it, and when he got into preschool and 8 other kids had rhyming names I remember thinking, "what the...?"

Congrats on the boy bean though, I'm sure you'll come up with a great name. Boy names were always toughest for us and so I bet that's why we had 2 boys :)

I've never met any of your kids, but comparing the ultrasound to the profiles, I can definitely see a resemblance. Nose-to-chin shape looks pretty identical.

First of all congratulations! What a blessing children really are. A few other great things about being the only girl...no hand me downs, you get to help make your brothers fashionable as many males do not possess the fashion gene, you will always have a guy watching your back just in case there's the wrong type of boy lurking around.
As for names the name Nolan is a name I have always loved - it's regal without being stuck up, it's earthy and sounds nice - and very few things to rhyme it with.
Other ideas... Owen, Ashton, Harris or Harrison, David, Jonah, Reed,

Oooh! There is no mistaking that money shot! Now, for the name suggestion... you totally took all the best names out of the running with your "rules". How about Edwayden? Jaked? Luish? Jerry'O? (You know names are always WAY cooler whey they have y's in the middle and or have random punctuation). I'll keep thinking and, "You're welcome".
